Cite & reuse

Name Assize Index, the page title, the date you read it, and the exact page URL. Numbers can change when better sources arrive, so the date matters.

If you rely on one number, cite its original source too. Every cell on our tables names its source and year.

Our tables, rankings, and charts are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You may copy, share, and adapt them, including commercially, as long as you:

• credit Assize Index;
• link to the exact page you used, not only the home page;
• say if you changed anything;
• keep each number together with its source and year.

Our license covers our own work: which figures we chose, how we arranged and ranked them, and the charts. The figures themselves come from their publishers: USDA and other agencies, national food composition tables, and published studies, listed on Sources. Some national tables set their own terms, and their credit lines are listed under Methods → Databases. When you reuse those figures, keep their credit as well as ours.

Methods, guides, notes, and articles are not under CC BY. You may quote short passages with credit and a link to the page. Republishing a full page or article needs our written permission. Ask at editors at assizeindex dot com.

• present a rank as medical advice. Rank 1 is the champion on an open published rule, not a clinical recommendation;
• imply that Assize Index endorses you, your product, or a brand;
• strip a number of its source and year;
• copy the site in bulk with scrapers or bots. That is covered by the Terms of use.

When we correct a number or a published note, the page says what changed and when. If you cited an earlier version, the date in your citation shows which one you read. Think a number is wrong? Email editors at assizeindex dot com.
